The Laboratory was founded within the framework of the Institute of Pharmacology USSR Academy Med. Sci. in 1986 to conduct studies aimed to design and develop novel medications for prevention and treatment of migraine.

The Laboratory is headed by professor Ruben S. Mirzoyan (birthdate 1938).

Scope of activities:
- Pharmacological correction of ischemic and hemorrhagic damage of the brain;
- Search and investigation of new compounds suitable for the prophylaxis and treatment of migraine.
- Pharmacology of combined vascular disturbances of brain and heart.
- Pharmacological correction of coronary blood flow and heart function and search of new antiarrhythmic drugs.
