Laboratory of Clinical Psychopharmacology

The Laboratory was founded in January 1993.
Grigory G. Neznamov
Professor Grigory G. Neznamov (birthdate 1945) heads the Lab.

tel.: (495) 601-2362

The Lab is located and operates on premises of 12th Moscow Psychiatric Hospital.

Main goals of Lab activity are as follows:

  • Evaluation of clinical pharmacological patterns of action exerted by novel and widely clinically used psychotropic drugs;
  • Scientific research and applied works in diagnosis and correction of psychic adaptation disturbances developed in patients of different groups exposed to unfavorable endogenous factors;
  • Introduction into health care affiliations activities of up-to-date accomplishments in experimental and clinical psychopharmacology as consulting, diagnostic, medicinal and therapeutic services.
In parallel the Lab provides for:
  • Organization and performance of clinical trials with novel psychotropic medicaments;
  • Performance of complex experimental clinical trials jointly with other affiliations and Institute subunits aimed to advance the main directions of its scientific activities;
  • Education & training (thesis support and practical doctors training in the framework of RAMS clinical internship in "Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy").
Based on data obtained in the Lab 1 Doctor and 4 Ph.D. theses supported, 11 specialists trained within the clinical internship.

To achieve the above purposes the Lab performs the research in the following fields:

  • Elaboration of methodological basis to assess the individual psychotropic effects and spectral parameters of psychopharmacological agents in clinic. This evaluation has to be comparable with experimental pharmacological findings;
  • Complex clinical pharmacological analysis (using clinical, psychological, psychophysiological, pharmaco-EEG and pharmacokinetic methods) of specific activity of anxiolytics, drugs with stimulating action, nootropics and others;
  • Study on individual responses to psychotropic drugs determined by human phenotype features
  • Assessment of possibility of use and efficacy of anxiolytics, nootrops and stimulants for the correction of general state and operatory performance of patients with psychic adaptation disturbances of different genesis.
